Governor Tom's Monday Message!

Is it Summer or Fall?  I love this weather!
I had a very busy week with five club visits, and I had a great time meeting everyone. I even got to try some homemade wine courtesy of PDG Sam Conte, Mt. Ephraim Rotary Club. It was awesome!! I think I will order a case!
District Grant's Webinar - back for an encore!
The District Grants Training Seminar was very well received, and we are getting requests to repeat the seminar from Rotarians that could not make the session. PDG Tim has agreed to hold another Webinar on Tuesday, September 12th at 6:00 pm. Please remember that two (2) Rotarians from each club that applies for a grant must participate in a Grant’s Management Seminar. There is money available for District Grants. You may apply for up to $2,000 for a District Grant, and your club must contribute $500, for a total project totaling $2,500.

Tri County Rotary Club Charter Celebration
Mark your calendar for the Tri-County Rotary Club's Charter Celebration on Thursday, October 12th at Merighi's Savoy Inn in East Vineland. The theme for the celebration is "Reaching for the Stars”, and the Charter Committee has some great surprises for you. We need all the clubs to support this event. It is tradition for each club to purchase Charter Night tickets in the amount of 10% of each club’s membership.  This is the first new club that we have Chartered in several years. We are very honored to have Past Rotary International Treasurer Mike Colasurdo, Sr. as our guest speaker. PRIT Mike is a great speaker and will make this a very special occasion for the Tri County Charter Celebration.
Rotary Leadership Institute
The Rotary Leadership Institute’s next program will be held on Saturday, October 14th at the Indian Cultural Center in Voorhees.  This is a great way to learn about Rotary from fellow Rotarians.  The facilitators are all Rotarians and make the learning process fun and interactive. Remember, if your club is sending a Rotarian to take a Part II or Part III course, the District will pay for a second Rotarian to go to a Part II or Part III training program.
Please keep those Texans adversely affected by Hurricane Harvey in your prayers!

Vocational Service Award Winner
Rotary Club of Atlantic City
The 37th Annual New Jersey Vocational Assembly will be held on Thursday, October 5th at the Pines Manor in Edison, NJ. The Vocational Assembly Winner for District 7640 is Natalie Devonish from the Atlantic City Rotary Club. Natalie has done amazing things with her AC Youth Exposure Program, which she started in 2010. Her program fosters young people to grow and work toward fulfilling careers and vocational advancement. The Atlantic City Chapter of Youth Exposure had 11 students enter into the program in 6th grade. Of the 11 students 10 are going to college this fall and 1 is entering the military. The group was awarded a total of $211,000 in scholarships for the upcoming fall semester.  WOW!!  Awesome job Natalie!!
Rotary Minute
“There is nothing intangible about Rotary: It is reality itself. To give is to receive;
to lose oneself is to find oneself; to be happy is to serve. These are old truths…for
the individual…and the mass, whether application be in the exchange of goods,
toil, knowledge, or love.”
— The Meaning of Rotary, THE ROTARIAN, November 1921
“Ethical conduct of business, emphasized and spread throughout the world, will
greatly diminish the inclination and disposition on the part of the peoples of the
different nations to fight one another.”
— Address to 1924 Rotary Convention, Toronto, Ontario, Canada
