Good morning!
I hope that everyone had a great week.
First let me say that visiting clubs is a lot of fun! Every club has its own unique personality.

I was asked how I tell prospective members about Rotary. I always use what I learned from PDG Joe Dino D7490 and here is what I tell them:
~Rotary is the oldest and largest service club in the world.
~Rotary is the largest provider of scholarships in the world.
~Rotary helped to start the UN and Rotary is a permanent observer at the UN
~Rotary has led the effort to eradicate Polio in the world over the last 32 years. In 1985 there were 1,000 people infected by Polio every day, today there are only 7 cases of Polio in the world.
~Rotary bring business and community leaders together to make the world a better place
~The Rotary Foundation is one of the highest rated Foundations in the world
~The Rotary Foundation has raised almost $4.5 Billion and given away almost $4 billion to very worthy projects in Rotary’s six areas of focus
~Then I mention projects that my club does

I also have a 30 second Rotary Commercial:
Rotary is a worldwide organization of business and community leaders, in almost every country in the world. There are more than 1.2 million Rotarians, men and women, who are dedicated to making the world a better place. We feed needy people, we provide clean water, we provide basic literacy and financial education, we provide economic and community development, and we are helping to eradicate Polio. Please be my guest and come to a meeting, and meet my fellow Rotarians.
You might think this is hokey, but I simply asked, and now I am sponsoring a new member who join last week, and she is under 30 years old.

It’s simple and to the point. Feel free to use it or make up your own, and always wear your Rotary Pin.
Strike Out Hunger Game Night
The Strike Out Hunger Baseball game is scheduled for Friday, August 11th, so don’t delay, buy your tickets now.  RI President Ian Riseley will be attending the game this year. It is also the Hall of Fame Weekend! Pete Rose will be inducted into the Phillies Hall of Fame and will throw out the first pitch. Also, all fans that attend that night will get a Pete Rose Bobble Head to commemorate the day. Remember, that $10.00 from every ticket sold goes directly to the Rotary Foundation on your behalf.
Over the last 32 years, this event has raised over $990,000 for the Rotary Foundation, and Rotarians have given over 16 tons of food to the needy. This year we will break $1,000,000 mark in giving to the Foundation, and will present a check for $1,000,000 at the Strike Out Hunger dinner on Saturday, August 12th at The Westin Hotel in Mt. Laurel. Last year we had over 330 people attend the dinner so buy your tickets now!

A new feature starting this week – The Rotary Moment. I hope you enjoy it.
“Man has affinity for his fellowman, regardless of race, creed, or politics, and the greater the variety, the more the zest. All friendliness needs is a sporting chance; it will take care of itself in any company.”
— A Road I Have Traveled, THE ROTARIAN, February 1934

“Friendship is a natural and willing servant…There is no reason…why the great power of friendship should not be harnessed to do its part in the world’s work.”
— Report of the President, 1912 Rotary Convention, Duluth, Minnesota, USA
